A single castanet on a flat wooden paddle handle, about 20 cm long, painted red. The clapper is held on by an elastic loop and springs back after each strike, so a child can get a clean click by tapping it against a palm or knee, with no finger technique needed. This is the type used in primary music rooms for a Spanish-dance unit and for keeping a beat. Sold as one unit. Model UE543.
